O2 Academy Islington is situated in the heart of fashionable N1, North London, a 17,000 square foot purpose built venue, with a capacity of 800. O2 Academy Islington fits perfectly alongside flagship South London venue; O2 Academy Brixton (capacity 4,921) and the historic O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (capacity 2,000) in West London.

O2 Academy Islington was formerly The Marquee Club and is situated in the N1 Centre. This purpose-built, digitally enabled live music venue ensures a superb diary all year round from internationally acclaimed artists and new talent.

The venue opened on Friday 19th September 2003 with US rockers Alkaline Trio, and was immediately followed by a staggering and diverse diary including Muse, The Cure and The Zutons.

In May-June 2008, O2 Academy Islington hosted 20 Sparks gigs, a unique concept of performing virtually all of the band’s albums. In November 2004, was the chosen venue for Eminem’s only European date of the year and in 2008, the mighty Def Leppard performed an exclusive show. 

Academy Music Group developed the 250 capacity O2 Academy 2 Islington (London) at the end of 2003, the adjoining smaller space to the main O2 Academy Islington. Specifically designed to function flexibly as a stand alone, production complete gig venue, it also provides a second room for club nights with all facilities in-house.

A key venue on the London gig scene, O2 Academy2 Islington has enjoyed sell-out gigs from the likes of The Script and The Courteeners, all of whom have gone on to immense recording and live success.
